Conversations that Connect
The foundation of all work in the disability sector is communication. This 1-day workshop is all about what we DON’T say and how to overcome the fear and anxiety that gets in the way of quality dialogue.
Aim:
This course aims to assist workers in the helping professions to enhance their communication skills around difficult and sensitive subjects to ensure conversations rather than confrontations.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Be able to identify particular examples where difficulties exist for them
- Be able to consider the reasons for the difficulty
- Be able to analyse passive, aggressive and assertive responses
- Be able to script and practice an appropriate dialogue for the situation
- Receive a range of tips and tricks to use to help with dialogue
- Develop an action plan for the workplace
Who should attend?
Anyone within the sector who wants to explore and enhance his or her communication skills.
