Tips for the Interview
Before the interview
- Research the organisation (flyers, website or annual reports) that you are applying with, take particular notice of the organisations mission and values.
- Prepare for the interview by reading the duty statement and understanding the type of work you will be doing. It may be helpful to think about the work or life experience that may be compatible to the job.
- Be prepare to answer some common question like:
- Why are you interested in this position?
- Why did you decide to apply for a position with our organisation?
- Have you any experience (in life or work) with people with disabilities?
At the interview
- Arrive on time.
- Have all the requested paper work at the interview. (e.g. Identification, Drivers Licence)
- Introduce yourself in a courteous manner.
- Don't assume the interviewer has read in detail your application or resume.
- Listen.
- Use body language to show interest; smile, nod, give nonverbal feedback to the interviewer.
- Thank the interviewer.
