NDS delivers training to support an understanding around the process of customised employment.
What is customised employment?
Customised employment is a flexible process designed to personalise the employment relationship between a job candidate and an employer in a way that meets the needs of both. It is based on an individualised determination of the strengths, needs, and interests of the person with a disability, and is also designed to meet the specific needs of the employer.
Customised employment may include employment developed through job carving, self-employment or micro-enterprise initiatives, or other job development or restructuring strategies that result in job responsibilities being customised and individually negotiated to fit the needs of individuals with a disability. Customised employment assumes the provision of reasonable accommodations and supports necessary for the individual to perform the functions of a job that is individually negotiated and developed.
