Mike Kerr is Professor of Learning Disability Psychiatry, Department of Psychological Medicine, Cardiff University. He is also an Honorary Consultant Neuropsychiatrist to the Neuropsychiatric service at Whitchurch Hospital Cardiff and Consultant Neuropsychiatrist to the Epilepsy Surgery Program, University hospital Wales. Professor Kerr has been an active researcher for twenty years. Some of his recent research projects include a randomised double-blind placebo controlled study into the reduction of antipsychotic medications for people with intellectual disability. He is also investigating epilepsy and mental health in adolescence, neuropsychiatric problems in children with intellectual disability, and innovations in community-based primary health care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
