Augmentative and Alternative Communication Training
A one-day training course for direct support workers run by the Learning and Development Branch of the Disability Services Commission.
At the end of the session staff will be able to: explain the participation model; identify methods of communication and reasons people communicate; identify and overcome barriers using a variety of communication strategies; use a core vocabulary of Key Word Signs; complete a communication profile and action plan for an individual.
