Getting Better Outcomes – contemporary service approaches
Much discussion has occurred over recent years about ‘outcomes’. Most of us would agree that outcomes have always driven our work and is the focus for supporting ‘better lives for people with disability and their families and carers’. Our approaches to supports and services, along with Government policies, have evolved as we strive to achieve better outcomes for individuals.
This workshop aims to explore what contemporary approaches organisations are/can use to achieve better outcomes, what works and what else could be applied. A number of organisations have been invited to share their experience through brief presentations.
The workshop will also encourage open discussion about the focus on outcomes as the driver for contemporary approaches and organisations can share information about their current practice and what contemporary approaches or strategies might lead to better outcomes.
Along with this the Disability Services Commission will give an overview of contemporary approaches that form the basis of the My Way project. An update on My Way will also be provided along with the opportunity for questions.
Finally participants will be invited to consider how government, peak bodies and other stakeholders can support their organisations to achieve its mission and commitment to better outcomes for people with disability.
