Recruitment and HR Fundamentals

This informative workshop will provide you with an overview of the key elements of effective Human Resource Management (HRM).  Particular attention will be given to Recruitment and Selection fundamentals and how to go about finding and choosing the right people for your organisation. 

Part 1 of the workshop will briefly touch on the following: 

  • Human Resource Management and Workforce Planning
  • Designing jobs and evaluating the work
  • Attraction, recruitment and selection
  • Induction and orientation
  • Enabling and fostering teams
  • Performance management
  • Training and development including leadership development
  • Ensuring employee health and welfare
  • Workforce relations and applying conditions of employment
  • Terminating, releasing and redeploying employees

Part 2 of the workshop will focus on Recruitment and Selection including: 

  • General principles and due diligence
  • The benefits of a recruitment plan
  • Attraction strategies
  • Selecting a panel
  • Developing an application kit
  • Shortlisting or screening
  • Methods of assessment including interviewing
  • The day of the interview and making sound decisions
  • Referee checking and providing feedback

At the end of the workshop participants will have a broad understanding of the core Human Resource (HR) processes and how they connect to achieve effective Human Resource Management. Participants will also gain a greater understanding of recruitment and selection processes including current trends such as the use of social media and the advantages and pitfalls of different recruitment and selection tools. Templates and case studies will also be included as part of the workshop to assist participants put into practice what they have learned when they return to their workplace.

Essential for HR Managers/Officers/Advisors as well as Line Managers/Coordinators involved in recruitment and selection processes and anyone interested in gaining a broad understanding of the core processes in effective Human Resource Management.

She has also assisted clients with the recruitment of their staff and has conducted highly rated training sessions for both selection panels and applicants over many years.
