Hot Topics (Session 2) - Workers' Compensation: Turning Risk into Opportunity

National Disability Services WA (NDS WA) invites your organisation to attend the second of its 2013 'Hot Topics' Breakfast Series events for Board Members, CEO's and Senior Management on Tuesday 28 May.

'Hot Topics' will provide an exclusive series of engaging breakfast events showcasing accomplished high profile national and international speakers who will provide invaluable insight and practical strategies to give you the edge in managing your organisation in an increasingly complex environment.

After wages, workers’ compensation is often the second biggest cost to an organisation.  As the disability sector moves toward the implementation of the new State procurement policy and a more individualised funding model, the need to maintain tight control of financial costs associated with workers compensation will be critical.

This presentation will assist you in understanding how closely controlling your workers' compensation costs, through proactively managing any injuries which occur, can contribute to the following:

„  Ensuring Legislative compliance and protecting corporate governance exposures for your Board;

„  Achieving financial discounts in the industry rate for workers’ compensation as opposed to being heavily penalised

„  Maintaining consistency of staff for delivery of services to clients;

„  Managing workplace injuries keeping people at work, as opposed to extended lost time plus additional funding imposts throughthe provision of an additional replacement worker;

„  Identifying unacceptable injury risks BEFORE workers are employed; and

„  Being able to market an excellent track record  in safety  and good work practices to people with disability and their families.
