Sector Training Activities

Risk Management for Community Services Organisations

The Department of Finance, Funding and Contracting Services Unit invite you to attend Risk Management for Community Services Organisations.

The Delivering Community Services in Partnership Policy challenges both sectors to redefine the way they engage in the planning, design and delivery of human services. Entering into a service agreement calls for significant planning, including thorough assessment of risk for the proposed service delivery.

This session delivered by RiskCover provides a general introduction to the key considerations for not-for-profit community sector organisations when conducting a risk assessment. The half-day workshop is a practical, hands on session where participants will work in teams to carry out a risk assessment specific to their organisation or sector.

Participants are invited to register as a team with two to three organisational representatives.  Alternatively, registrants can be matched with registrants of a similar organisation nature.  Working in teams, participants will acquire knowledge of the risk assessment process, and identify and assess the risks relating to their organisation or sector. Participants will also use the risk information to identify strategies that could be implemented within their own organisation to manage identified risks.

These workshops will address:

  • The Risk Management Context, Process and Roles and Responsibilities;
  • Risk Identification and Assessment;
  • Risk Management Implementation; and
  • Using risk information.

This session will be facilitated by Jim Hodges, Manager Risk Management Services, RiskCover.  Jim Hodges has had a leading role in developing the risk management practices of WA government agencies including Public Sector Commission, Department of Corrective Services, Department of Education, Public Transport Authority including The New Metro Rail Project and many more. Jim’s wealth of experience enables him to provide a great insight into what is required to establish a risk management culture for any organisation.
