Sector Training Activities
Hot Topics: Session 2 – Your Organisation and the Disability Sector of the Future
Join us as Dr Ken Baker, NDS Chief Executive, major influences on the disability sector of the future including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), not-for-profit sector reforms, individualised services and funding and workforce issues.
These reforms will place large demands on disability service providers. Services will need to be responsive to the exercise of choice by people with disability and their families. The demand for skilled workers will be high and within this environment, service providers will be called on to demonstrate that they are being effective and accountable.
Ken will discuss what your organisation should be doing now to prepare for the disability sector of the future.
Dr Ken Baker is the Chief Executive of National Disability Services (NDS), the peak association for non-government disability service organisations. In that role he provides information, representation and policy advice.
Ken has worked in social policy and public affairs for more than 25 years. Based on Canberra, he is currently a member of the National People with Disabilities and Carer Council, the Not-for-Profit Sector Reform Council, several committees advising on disability employment and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Advisory Group.
With a membership of 700 non-government organisations, NDS promotes and improves services which support people with disability to participate in all domains of life.
