Sector Training Activities
The Parent Perspective
Parent perspective will give the participants an understanding of the issues faced by families who have sons or daughters with a disability. It will enable a deeper understanding of the life experiences of parents from their perspective and identify ways to manage the parent / professional tensions by building positive and trustful relationships.
The parent perspective workshop will also offer tools that enable the strengthening of relationships between parents and professionals, to enhance the positive support for the individual with a disability. These tools will assist with the difficult conversations that often impede good support and strained relationships and also clarify the roles for both the parent and professional to keep the focus on person centred support.
Who can attend?
The course is open to service providers. The workshop is conducted in an environment that fosters the sharing of experiences and skills in a confidential, respectful and supportive atmosphere.
