Person Centred Practice & Individual Service Design

Using person centred values, this two day workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to develop their thinking, understanding and practice around supporting individuals and families in designing practical support solutions.

‘Bricks and mortar and lots of staff does not necessarily create a good lifestyle, how we direct and mould that support around the person does’

Individual Service Design is an approach that has been used and developed across the UK, based on person centred values and approaches.  Individual Service Design enables people to explore support for each individual, making sure that people are supported to live their lives as equal citizens in their local communities.  Participants attending this workshop will learn about this approach to designing individual support solutions and explore how this approach can be incorporated into their role in supporting individuals and families.

 Workshop Outcomes:

  • To understand person centred values as the foundation of engagement with individuals and families
  • To explore person centred thinking and practice and develop an understanding of how these approaches can assist people in designing good support
  • To explore individual service design as a tool to support equal citizenship and self determination
  • To practice and adapt Individual Service Design in our own practice and in that of the organisation where we work.

Kate Fulton has worked for many years in human services in the UK, working for a range of development agencies including Paradigm and Inclusion North.

Kate is a Fellow of the Centre for Welfare Reform and continues to develop and explore innovative person centred approaches with individuals, families and organisations.
