Self-Direction My Voice My Choice
This workshop explores different ways that people can self-direct their supports and how service providers can enable this to happen.
At the heart of the NDIS and My Way is people with disability, their families and supporters being able to exercise choice and control over the supports and services that they require. This workshop explores different ways that people can self-direct their supports and how service providers can enable this to happen.
The workshop will explore:
- The essential elements of self-directed approaches
- Key features of self-directed services
- Models of individual funding i.e. self-management (LAC & NDIS), shared management (My Way) and plan management (NDIS)
- Busting the myths
- How to promote and enable self – direction within existing services
- How we can assist individuals and families to build skills to exercise more choice and control over their supports and services.
