More Than Just Being There

Being a great support worker is a lot more than simply “being there”.  The role requires people to be able to seek out opportunities that enable people with disabilities to take an active role in community life and make a positive contribution to society.

This workshop is a ”How To” skill building workshop for front line support workers and coordinators.  It combines elements of theory with practical tools and examples to equip people who provide assistance to people with a disability to facilitate active citizenship in the community.

Topics include:

  • Exploring Citizenship
  • Valued Roles
  • Tips and strategies for building community connections
  • Community Asset Mapping
  • The Art of Asking
