Lessons my son taught me. Anything is Possible…Telling
We are privileged to have in W.A. Alison Ouellette, a parent from Ontario, Canada: to talk with families about her own family’s experience supporting and assisting their son David to carry out his dream and live a good everyday life.
Despite being described as a baby in 1974 as “severely deficient”, and his parents being advised to put him in an institution and forget about him, Dave went on to run his own small business and to live in his own home.
Alison will talk about the strategies they used to “make the impossible possible”, through partnerships, connections, a circle of support and using Dave’s individualised funds.
Sadly, Dave died in 2010, but his life has inspired many others all over the world to reach for their dreams. This session will inspire hope and creativity as well as encourage people with significant physical and developmental disabilities to take the next steps forward.
There is a choice of morning or evening session and there will be ample time for questions and discussion.
We hope you will join us!
