Residential Care - Understanding depression and anxiety disorders in older people

Course Outline:

Upon completion of this workshop

  • Personal care attendants/direct care workers to have a greater understanding of depression and anxiety in older people
  • Understand how their practice can impact upon a resident’s mental health
  • Develop strategies for working with residents with depression and/or anxiety
  • Understand the process for reporting their concerns
  • Enrolled and Registered Nurses will be able to identify appropriate screening tools for older people with depression and/or anxiety,
  • Understand appropriate referral/pathways to care for people with depression and/or anxiety
  • Understand effective, management of older people with depression and/or anxiety and/or dementia
  • Increased knowledge of beyondblue and other resources
