Sector Training Activities

Applied Human Rights for Frontline Staff

Don’t miss this interactive workshop which will further develop your understanding of human rights. In the current rapidly changing disability services sector there is an increased focus on promoting, supporting and ensuring the human rights of people with disability – but what does this mean for frontline staff?

While human rights training is often highly conceptual and difficult to relate to personal experiences, this interactive workshop presents human rights principles in a way that has everyday meaning and encourages reflective practice in your work environment.

In this session, you will develop your understanding of:

  • Human rights, and how they apply to your own life and the lives of the people you support
  • How you can support and ensure the rights of the people you support - for example assist people to have a voice and assert meaningful choices in their lives
  • What to do if you have concerns that a person’s rights are not being upheld.

Who should attend:
Support workers, coordinators and team leaders in disability service organisations
