Money Can’t Buy Inclusion – How support can make a difference

Do you or your staff want the skills to be a great community support worker?  This workshop combines elements of theory with practical tools and examples to equip support workers with the skills to facilitate active community engagement.

Being a great community support worker is a lot more than supporting people in time filling activities in the community. The role requires people to have the skills and confidence to seek out opportunities that will enable people with disability to contribute and engage in community life and be active citizens.

Attend this session and learn to

  • Explore the role of support workers in an NDIS world;
  • Make sense of plans, goals and outcomes;
  • Be a Community Connector vs a Support Worker;
  • Find people’s ’hook‘ into community life;
  • Turn gifts and passions into valued roles;
  • Provide “just enough support”;
  • Tips and strategies for building community connections;
  • Community asset mapping; and
  • The art of asking.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is for support workers and coordinators, who may be working in organisations or directly engaged through self-managed arrangements, who support people with disability in the community.
